With combined experiences totaling over a hundred years in the construction industry, our officers, like the majority of our management team, have progressed through the ranks, gaining a thorough knowledge of all facets of our operations and commitment to our customers.

Meet the Builders Guild Leadership Team

KATHRYN B. CARTER: President, C.E.O

As President, Kathy is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company and monitoring of its’ bottom line performance. Kathy collaborates with the Board of Directors to establish the company’s strategic goals and sets the key policies and methods required to achieve those goals. Kathy is also actively involved in the marketing and business development aspects of the business. Kathy executes all contract documents and may also conduct negotiations on behalf of BUILDERS GUILD INC. Kathy believes the foundation of corporate good citizenship includes honesty, integrity, environmental sensitivity, personnel development, community involvement, and management of effective change to foster stability and profitability for our firm.

ROBERT D. CARTER: Executive Vice President, C.O.O.

Bob has over 35 Years of construction industry experience with involvement in all types of Project Delivery methods including Construction Manager at Risk, Job Order contracting, DesignS uild as well as traditional Design-Bid-Build. Bob participates in and provides leadership on projects for public agencies, large institutional clients, major industrial facilities and private clients. As Operations Manager, Bob serves as the local point of contact for the Corporation. He has overall responsibility for all projects undertaken by BUILDERS GUILD INC and manages the resources and staffing for these projects. Bob brings to bear his extensive knowledge and experience with regard to all construction services including cost estimating, constructability analysis, GMP development, value engineering, material and equipment purchasing as well as partnering and communication with clients. Bob is committed to providing clients with whatever resources are required to achieve Project Goals and Customer Satisfaction. During construction, Bob’s prime responsibilities include off-site & on-site management and planning, budget and cost control, job cost accounting communication and reporting, monitoring and/or attendance at progress meetings, facilitation of the permitting process and coordination of project staffing. Bob believes in and upholds the corporate values of integrity, quality of work, customer satisfaction, personnel training and development and profitability – values which have contributed to his many years of success in the construction industry.

ELLEN K. OSTRAND: Controller and Corporate Secretary

As Corporate Secretary and Controller Ellen is responsible for maintaining the Corporate records of BUILDERS GUILD INC and overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting Department. Ellen performs accounting duties related to budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, job cost and general accounting. Additional responsibilities include planning, coordinating and directing the implementation and administration of information technology to improve quality and productivity.

MARK E. ACRE, CHC, CEICS: Vice President - Healthcare Construction

As the Vice President of Healthcare Construction, Mark provides the leadership for all healthcare construction and client services. For the past 25 years Mark has specialized in healthcare construction and his active involvement throughout design and construction serves as a strong resource for innovative solutions to healthcare construction challenges. In efforts to stay abreast of current healthcare delivery methods, equipment, technology and the issues facing the industry. he is actively involved in the American Society for Healthcare Engineers. Mark is one of a select group of individuals in the State of Arizona to carry the Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) designation from the American Hospital Association. Mark promotes a productive, team environment and he is responsible for maintaining the high standards of BUILDERS GUILD INC, including quality and professionalism.

LEON 'Pat' MAXWELL: Vice President - Preconstruction Services

As Vice President of Preconstruction and Contracts Pat provides BUILDERS GUILD INC the management and coordination of early planning of contracts or projects. These efforts include the responsibility to work in conjunction with Project Management Team in the areas of Program Verification, Site Investigation, Project Planning, Scheduling and Phasing, Budget Verification, Procurement, Subcontractor Pre-Qualification and Subcontract Administration. Pat also works closely with members of our Estimating Team in the areas of Conceptual Cost Estimating, BestValue Analysis, Constructability, Plan Coordination Review, Options Analysis and Project BuyOut. Pat’s duties include ensuring that the legal instruments such as insurance, bonds, contracts and subcontracts are properly suited to the Project delivery method.
